Operating system (OS): Operating System(OS) is that thing which combines/controls the computer hardware with correct electric command. It Controls all the resources of a COMPUTER system. It also converts a command into computer’s intelligible/understandable language (binary 0, 1). There are two parts of a OS. First is named as Kernel/Nucleus/Resident program and the other is User interface/Shell/Transient program. Kernel is the main power of an OS.

DOS
Full meaning: Disk Operating System. It's a text based OS. In the beginning of 1981 Microsoft corporation & I.B.M jointly made it. First version marketed as MS-DOS 1.0 ; later many version has been released such as 2.0, 3.10, 3.20, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 6.22
Windows
Windows 2.03: Release year: 1987

Windows NT 3.1: Release year: 1993
Windows 95: The first complete Operating System. Release year: 1995

Windows XP: The most famous & used OS is “Windows XP” by Microsoft. It has broke the record of past & has bring a great change in Computer history. It proves Bill Gates as more intelligent & necessary people. No other OS has efficiency/necessity as Windows XP. Its authority is much in computer platform. Most of the great software depends on this operating system. The programmers also take advantage of creating software with this platform. For these reason most played single/multiplayer game supports Windows XP operating system. XP has great authority in any platform of electrical development also. It loses the chance of any software problem. We shall use it if we are a simple user. Mac: As much as i have heard Mac is not simple; it is for more advanced user such as movie director, laptop user etc. But you can not use Mac if you do not have a Mac based hardware system and keep in mind about the price of Mac. The viruses of Mac based system are also too low- so you can be sure about security protection if you are afraid of computer security.
Linux: Linux Torvalds is the architecture of Linux. Linux is good as OS, but something is bad in this platform. It supplies a harder & different interface than the others . I have used “Mandriva Linux” for several days & found no ease to use. So at last I had to migrate in Windows XP. See the version of Linux released until 2012-
